Maintaining healthy bones and muscles is an important part of healthy ageing. While osteoporosis has long been recognised as a major health concern associated with ageing, age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia) has also received increasing attention because it may affect muscle strength, mobility, and physical function, often without obvious symptoms in its early stages, hence being easily overlooked.

The Bone & Muscle Health Assessment Programme (Programme) at CUHK Medical Clinic combines bone density assessment, InBody body composition analysis, blood tests, and doctor’s clinical evaluation to provide an assessment of musculoskeletal health.

One of the Programme's features is the use of InBody body composition analysis, together with a prediction equation developed and validated in a CUHK research1, to estimate skeletal muscle mass as part of the overall clinical assessment.

  • Bone Density Test (DEXA) (Hip & Spine)
  • InBody Body Composition Analysis

Programme Highlights

The Programme incorporates InBody body composition analysis together with a prediction equation developed and validated by the CUHK research team1 to estimate skeletal muscle mass as part of the overall clinical assessment.
  • Are aged 50 or above
  • Wish to understand their muscle and bone health
  • Are concerned about muscle strength, body composition, and bone health status
  • Wish to establish a baseline assessment as part of healthy ageing
  • Have a history of osteoporosis or fragility fractures
  • Have a long-term steroid treatment
  • Are underweight (e.g. BMI < 18.5 kg/m²)2

  1. Bone & Muscle Health Assessment Programme (this “Programme”) will be attended by registered medical practitioner(s) designated by CUHK Medical Clinic.
  2. The price under this Programme does not include fees and/or charges for any medication and treatments.
  3. Advance booking is required for this Programme.
  4. If the doctor determines that a participant is not suitable to receive the services under this Programme, or this Programme is not applicable to the participant, CUHK Medical Clinic will only charge the doctor consultation fee and (if applicable) any related diagnostic and/or medication fees/charges at its/their prevailing prices.
  5. Some investigation items included in this programme, such as imaging test, will be conducted at third-party service location(s). Please contact us for further details. 
  6. If, for whatever reason, this Programme is not completed in its entirety, CUHK Medical Clinic reserves the right to charge the participant for the completed item(s) at its/their prevailing prices.
